HANAMI Europe-Japan Strategic Dialogue: Roadmap for EU-Japan HPC Collaboration
In conjunction with the HANAMI High-Level Symposium
As part of the HANAMI High-Level Symposium 2026, the third High-Level Stakeholder Event will gather key actors from Europe and Japan to discuss the future of strategic scientific collaboration, with a special emphasis on High-Performance Computing (HPC).
Centred on the theme “Roadmap for EU–Japan HPC Collaboration”, the event will provide a high-level platform to examine common challenges, emerging opportunities, and the next steps needed to advance a shared vision for HPC cooperation.
Bringing together policymakers, research funders, leading scientists, and institutional stakeholders, this dialogue aims to foster exchange, strengthen mutual understanding, and contribute to the development of a robust and future-oriented EU–Japan collaboration framework.

France Boillod-Cerneux
CEA
PhD in Computer Science (High Performance Computing), France is the deputy at the CEA’s Fundamental Research Department (CEA-DRF) regarding numerical simulations. Previously, France worked within ATOS-Bull in the benchmarking and application support team. France is actively involved in international, European and national collaborations covering the HPC, Artificial intelligence, High Performance Data Analytics and Quantum Computing at CEA-DRF and within national initiatives. France is the Project Coordinator of HANAMI.
Kengo Nakajima
Deputy Director, RIKEN Center for Computational Science
Kengo Nakajima is a Professor, Supercomputing Research Division, Information Technology Center, the University of Tokyo since 2008. Prior to joining the University of Tokyo in 2004, he spent 19 years in industry. He is also a Deputy Director of RIKEN R-CCS (Center for Computational Science) since 2018. His research interest covers computational mechanics, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), numerical linear algebra, parallel iterative algorithms, parallel preconditioning methods, multigrid methods, parallel programming models, adaptive mesh refinement (AMR), and parallel visualization. B.Eng (1985, Aeronautics, University of Tokyo), M.S. (1993, Aerospace Engineering, University of Texas at Austin), Ph.D. (2003, Engineering Mechanics, University of Tokyo).
