Joachim Biercamp holds a PhD in Physical Oceanography and has a long standing experience in supporting climate simulations as former head of the application department of the German Climate Computing Centre DKRZ and as coordinator of the Centres of Excellence ESiWACE and ESiWACE2.

Currently Joachim is co-coordinator of ESiWACE3 and involved in several national and international projects dealing with HPC for climate modelling. In HANAMI Joachim will co-lead the climate pillar and in particular lead the benchmarking activity.
