Rui Oliveira is Associate Professor with habilitation at the Department of Informatics of University of Minho and member of the board of INESC TEC. He is National Co-Director of the UT Austin Portugal Program and coordinates the program’s Advanced Computing area.
Rui Oliveira is Director of the Minho Advanced Computing Center and appointed expert to the European EuroHPC Joint Undertaking. He holds a PhD degree in Computer Science from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne.
His main research contributions and interests have been in the fields of scalable and fault- tolerant distributed systems, chiefly on consensus and epidemic multicast algorithms, and on exascale data management and processing. Rui Oliveira serves on the Steering Committees of Global CENTRA and the Atlantic Interactions Research Centre.
